Gundu was very fond of eating eggs. He also ate duck's eggs and hen's eggs but his favourite were goose eggs. However, goose eggs were very expensive. Gundu's parents worked really hard to meet the needs of their only son to eat eggs every day. Ramoji, Gundu's father, and Durga, Gundu's mother, spent most of their money on eggs as well.
One day, they bought a goose from an old woman. She sang that the goose would lay an egg a day. Later they found out that the eggs were yellow, shiny, inedible, and.... expensive.
Ramoji, Durga, and Gundu had enough money for buying eggs, jewelleries, and clothes from selling the goose eggs to a goldsmith. The parents also thought to buy a new bigger house by saving up the money. Their patience began to waver when the goldsmith persuaded Ramoji to supply more golden eggs.

Gundu sangat suka makan telur. Dia juga makan telur bebek dan telur ayam tapi favoritnya adalah telur angsa. Namun, telur angsa harganya sangat mahal. Orang tua Gundu bekerja sangat keras untuk memenuhi kebutuhan putra satu-satunya untuk makan telur setiap hari. Ramoji, ayah Gundu, dan Durga, ibu Gundu, juga menghabiskan sebagian besar uang mereka untuk membeli telur.
Suatu hari, mereka membeli seekor angsa dari seorang wanita tua. Dia bernyanyi bahwa angsa akan bertelur 1 per hari. Kemudian mereka menemukan bahwa telur itu berwarna kuning, mengkilat, tidak bisa dimakan, dan.... mahal.
Ramoji, Durga, dan Gundu memiliki cukup uang dari menjual telur-telur angsa itu kepada seorang tukang emas. Orang tua Gundu juga berpikir untuk membeli rumah baru yang lebih besar dengan menabung sisa uangnya. Kesabaran mereka mulai goyah ketika si tukang emas membujuk Ramoji untuk memasok lebih banyak telur emas.
